A Slightly Interesting Update

I’ve switched to another hobby: research.
I’m currently researching Christmas. I checked out a ton of books from the library the other day, and with this as a start, I’m well on my way of discovering more useless things to preoccupy my mind.
Next up will be the Yin-Yang symbol. I’ve always wondered about that.

My mom and I decided to swap gifts early: I got the “Torches” Foster the People CD I wanted (I’ve lately taken an interest in them – I first discovered them on “Saturday Night Live”), and my mom got some cool Taylor Swift stuff I found. We’ve yet to “celebrate” Christmas with the extended family. One idea going around is for us all (me, my mom, grandmother, and aunt) to see “War Horse” together on Christmas Day. There’s no way in hell that’s happening. I refuse to watch any movie involving the suffering of an animal. I’m too much of an animal lover to bear something like that. So is my mom. The truth is, I don’t want to see a dramatic movie; I’ve had enough of those. Out of my entire list of movies in theaters I want to see, they pick something way off from my interests; figures.

  • Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
  • A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas
  • Tower Heist
  • We Bought A Zoo
  • The Descendants
  • The Sitter
  • Hugo
  • Carnage
  • Young Adult

I mainly want to see the first two.
Speaking of which, I’ve been watching loads of movies lately; afterwards, I write reviews and post them online. It’s not a novel, but at least I’m writing again. As you can see, I’m still making lists of probably useless things. I call it work, and my mom calls it nothing. Interesting.
While at the library, I couldn’t help but grab a few novels. Needless to say I had to use a basket, which was heavy and overflowing with mostly books on Christmas history and such. Excluding the Christmas stuff:

  • Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
  • Easily Amused by Karen McQuestion
  • Annabel by Kathleen Winter
  • Trapped by Michael Northrop
  • Fall for Anything by Courtney Summers

I’ve also been probably wasting my time on magazines; actually one in particular: Entertainment Weekly. I’m beginning to think they don’t give a shit, considering all the letters I’ve been sending and still with no response. That’s okay; I enjoy the process of writing and mailing letters. Although, I’m running out of notebooks, and I’m always out of stamps, so that puts a damper on things.
I guess I’ve been acting weird lately. I’m happy with my new hobby; as I always am. One day, I’ll turn these hobbies into a career. I’ve actually thought a lot about that, and have compiled a list of possibilities (in order):

  1. Writer
  2. Film Critic
  3. Editor
  4. Librarian

Right now I wouldn’t mind a job either working as a mail clerk, or a Blockbuster employee. That would be fun.

Right when I rejoin Facebook, they have to go and screw up the privacy settings to the point of frustration. Timeline is and/or will be the worst thing imaginable. It’s beyond way too personal. And did Mark Zuckerberg not take into account that employers do a search on applicants? Why does he have to be such an asshole? My cursor shall remain hovering over the “delete my account” button.

I still have insomnia, though not as bad as before. For the past few nights now I’ve been listening to the audio version (I love the sound of Johnny Depp‘s voice – which is mainly why I bought this – but I am actually enjoying it) of Life – by Keith Richards on my mp3 player until I get sick of it and/or fall asleep. It’s hard to keep track of my place though; that’s a dead end I don’t wish to revive.
I’m slowly obtaining an interest in music; but my heart will always be in books.

The cats are still a pain in the ass. I pick up cat vomit every morning. The worst part is the manner in discovering it (if you know what I mean). Usually it’s Cleopatra, but today I found Jade vomiting (in the worst places: next to one of their food bowls, and then again on their scratch pad). Jade inhales her food in record speed. She’s also acquired quite a tummy from it. Cleopatra is all fur really, but Jade is indeed a little on the heavy side to the point where you can hear her land after jumping down from something (usually something she’s not supposed to be on) with a loud thump!
Cleopatra has finally been sleeping (napping actually). She still howls throughout the night though; it’s all about Mousie. Ugh.

An Average Day For Me (sort of)

Today was interesting, in an annoying sort of way.
My mom and I drove around for about an hour or two looking for a branch of this one bank that has a cash deposit ATM or night drop box or SOMETHING. We found one on the third try thanks to the GPS woman that never shuts up. She pisses me off; I don’t normally talk, but when I do, I make an effort to, so I expect to be heard rather than just wasting a breath, but that damn thing never shuts up; turn left this and turn blah blah blah.
Speaking of technology, I saw this Lexus (?) commercial; did you know that cars are becoming so brilliant that they can drive themselves? I think it mentioned something about “alerting the driver if they doze off” and “automatically decreases speed if it detects the car in front is too close”. Am I the only one freaked out about this? If I am, then I suggest you seriously watch I-Robot (starring Will Smith), and then get back to me. I’m telling you the future is in plain sight, and what do we do? Continue to build artificial intelligence until we no long have to think.
I’m ashamed of humanity.
But anyway..what was I saying? oh yeah, so I’m pretty fed up with this new bank. They really seem to care (overwhelmingly) about customer satisfaction. Wait till they here from me. Those idiots and their inconvenient services! And no it’s not a major bank, but still. Better yet, I’ll mail them my complaint. I swear it seems like they are desperate for customers. That’s not a good sign; not at all.

I’m back to an Android at the moment. It’s a My Touch 4G HTC thing. It’s also brilliant. Damn these things and their conveniences. Besides Google not understanding my voice, it works pretty well. Very helpful…and yes, I must admit…cool.
I heard about the BlackBerry issue. At least I know it wasn’t just me having difficulty with emailing. That’s their best trait, and it goes down? NOT a good sign. I can only imagine how many customers they lost. I go back and forth because I still have a strange devotion to BlackBerry. Forever and always I guess.

This is just flowing now isn’t it?

Mom has been lighting candles all over the house lately. I’ve always been a bit edgy with candles ever since I was eight, when I watched this news special about this woman who’s house burned down (I forgot if she lived or not) after she fell asleep forgetting about the lit candles. So I’m hesitant, but they do smell good. Really good.

In the world of books, I’m currently reading An Off Year by Claire Zulkey. It’s right up my ally in certain situations and I’m enjoying it. That last book I read, I Never Loved Your Mind by Paul Zindel, was very odd. The ending and just about every part of the book was strange and very unpredictable. But it was still a good read.

I suppose I have been cyber stalking Johnny Depp, but how can I not when he’s been in the public eye just about everyday this week? Especially his second drunk stunt, and the press for his upcoming movie The Rum Diary (in theaters October 28, 2011).
That reminds me, I need to renew my Flickr subscription before the end of the year.

Late Topics

It’s amazing how things don’t turn out as I expected; and it’s good a thing.

I had the best night in a long while last Tuesday. I hate church groups, but this one was different. This one was normal. It was…fun. I found a new board game I like, Apples to Apples. I’m more of a classic board game person, but it was enjoyable.

My Facebook number of friends is bouncing around again. Right when I start to build up my friend list, someone has to go and delete their account. Ugh.
I was curious for the definition of half-brother, because I do have a half-brother through my dad’s side. Facebook doesn’t have an option for half. But the definition means brother related through one parent only. So I selected him as my brother on Facebook.

I don’t know why I still bother with writing letters to Johnny Depp. I guess because I don’t want to be thought an idiot based on my previous letters. So I update them. I don’t expect much of anything, I just enjoy writing letters and everything to do with mail in general.

I’ve been reading non-stop. It’s wonderful to take a break from reality. So I’ve been stocking up at the library, and documenting everything on GoodReads. Currently I’m reading Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris. It reminds me of the TV show The Office and the movie Office Space.

Every day I’m more convinced that I need an Android. Really just for the useful apps, but that’s all I use my phone for anyway. My Blackberry has been letting me down lately. I love my Blackberry, but I need it to work properly. In five months I’m going to get the My Touch 3G Slide.

Yesterday was interesting. For once since forever, I got a great night sleep before the morning of my interview. I woke up not tired at all, and calm. I was fine until 30 minutes before my interview my anxiety started kicking in. Overall things went well, though I doubt I got the job. It was funny because one of the questions the interviewee asked me was one I’d heard several times before, and still all the time. What do you do? After my long pause, I figured the truth is always best. I told her I read. She smiled at that.
It was hot as hell yesterday. I swear I hate Texas. I brought a change of clothes for after the interview, but even in shorts, it felt like an oven. It was 79 degrees, but it felt like 90.
I learned once again the hard way about candy. You would think at my age, I should know the after effects of candy. That didn’t stop me from eating Sour Punch Straws. I suffered all day yesterday. I had to pick up some Sensodyne. Hopefully it won’t take two weeks.

I also discovered my favorite snack is Hot Peanuts. It’s funny, because they’re made by FritoLay, the same company that makes fritos. I hate fritos. I always have. I can tolerate them in frito pie though.

Last night I watched Confessions of a Shopaholic with my mom. It was very entertaining. Plus, the cute guy (Hugh Dancy) made it even more enjoyable.
